Reading: In reading we will be starting a new unit called Bigger Books Mean Amping Up Reading Power. For the first part of this unit we will practice reading with fluency. We will rehearse reading voices, scoop up words in phrases, notice dialogue tags, and use meaning to read fluently.

Writing: This week we will be starting poetry! We will be learning about how poets look at and write about the world, as well as reading and writing like a poet. With this, we will be focusing on how to write and read with line breaks in poems. We will be discussing how to come up with topics. Students will be given notebooks to jot down all of their ideas for topics throughout the day!

Math: In math this week we are continuing to work on story problems. Students are working on identifying what type of story problem they are reading and then finding a strategy to help them solve it.

Researcher's Workshop: This week we are continuing our unit of history where we are focusing on influential people in America. We will finish up our centers from last week and continue to investigate. We will be learning how to investigate with a partner and have conversations and also learn a few note taking strategies.

Word Work: This week we are working on r-controlled vowels: ar and or. At the end of the week we will start working on er, ir, and ur as well.
