We will also begin to explore how we can gather information on one topic across multiple books.

Writing:
In writing this week we are going to think about our audience. We need to think about who our audience is, questions that they may have, and what they want to learn. We will also learn ways to elaborate be adding descriptions and comparisons.

Math:
In math this week we will begin exploring money. We will learn the names and value of a dollar, pennies, dimes, nickels, and quarters. We will also practice adding coin totals and writing them in decimal form. Later in the week, we begin adding three or four 2-digit addends!

Researcher’s Workshop:
In researcher’s workshop we will learn that plants have different needs in terms of sunlight and water. The students will also practice thinking like gardeners as they determine the best place for certain plants to grow!

Word Work:
In word work we will continue reviewing and practicing baseword and suffix combinations (ex. Ing, ed, er, est, s, es). We will also be looking at vowel teams oa, oe, and ow while continuing to practice all of our trick words.
