First Blog Post

Happy Monday!

 Hello and welcome to the first blog post! This will be used as a communication tool to keep you updated on what we are doing in the classroom and upcoming events/reminders. Let me know at anytime if you have any questions or concerns!

 Here are a few reminders: Please be sure to have the decorated writing folder returned because we are starting our writing unit. Also all paperwork that was sent home at open house or the first day of school needs to be returned.

 Upcoming Events:

9/24: Family Night
10/2: Picture Day
10/4: No School

 Reading:
Last week we worked on setting up reading routines and expectations.  It was exciting to see how many students are excited for this part of our school day!  This week we will focus on becoming stronger readers by reading more and more, we will set goals for ourselves, and we will work on fluency.  Today, we will be sending home book bags.  Please find time each night for your child to read their just right books. If you notice that books are too difficult or they do not seem like a good fit, please let me know.  

 Writing:
This week in writing we are starting our first unit: Revving Up Our Writing Muscles. Students are writing stories about themselves that they want to share! Thank you for all the work you did with the folders! It is a great tool for the students to use to think of ideas.

 Math:
This week in math we are starting our first unit. This week we are going to be relating subtraction and addition. We will also learn about ways to solve for an unknown addend and an unknown total. We will send home math work on Wednesday, it is not something that needs to be returned, it is for you to see what we are working on in math.

 Researcher’s Workshop: 
Last week and continuing on this week we are talking about our hopes and dreams. We have been busy building a community together and being apart of community is helping each other reach their goals! This week we will create rules to help everyone reach their hopes and dreams.

Hey Everyone, As we wrap up our blog posts for this week, we want to thank you for all of the support that you are providing your children in this journey. As we head into next week, which is spring break, please take that time to rest, relax, and recharge. When we return the following week, we will begin our Virtual Learning 2.0 Plan. As a district and school team, we have met to establish new plans and expectations as our safer at home mandate has been extended. We plan to make a video for parents to explain it! Thank you for your feedback on what we are trying to best help you. Please always feel free to let us know what is working or not working for your families. We’ve gotten feedback that we are sending too many resources and will scale back. Just a reminder that all is optional and use what is best for you :). Sorry if we have overwhelmed you. Hello, This week we will have our valentines celebration on Friday. Student can bring in their mailbox and valentines that day. Let me know if you are bringing a treat for the class so I can make sure there are no repeats or not too many sweets :).
